How did Vampire Mob become a Graphic Novel?

Marcia Wallace and me on the set of Vampire Mob,

season two. (Photo by Agnes Magyari)

Marcia Wallace as a vampire?

I created a character for Marcia Wallace without her knowing it.

Hearing Marcia's voice in my head as I typed dialogue for Virginia Jones, the vampire and mother-in-law to Don Grigioni, a vampire and hitman for the mafia, made me smile.

I didn't know if Marcia would say yes because I didn't know Marcia.  We had mutual friends who got me in contact with her and she DID say yes, with the caveat, “I usually don’t do these things.”

Marcia Wallace was in some of the best comedies in history and she did me a gigantic favor by saying yes to being in “Vampire Mob.”  Then she said yes, again, and we made season two of “Vampire Mob.”

I wrote a third season with Marcia’s character all over the script and she was on board to reprise her role.

Unfortunately, on October 25, 2013 the world got less funny when Marcia Wallace died.

Marcia Wallace with the character she made so memorable on "The Simpsons."

"Improvise, adapt and overcome."

Recasting Virginia just didn’t feel right.

I wanted to continue telling the story of “Vampire Mob,” it’s a really funny script!  But without Marcia, how?

Creating “Vampire Mob” as a graphic novel would allow Marcia’s character to be “alive” in our imaginations.

We could all imagine Marcia Wallace saying the words on the page and that did feel right.

Thank YOU to the over 200 people from all over the world who contributed and the hundreds more who retweeted & shared, we had a successful IndieGoGo campaign and raised enough to make Issue 1!    And Issue 2 is next, with your help!

Adapting the entire VMob S3 live-action script into a graphic-novel script will result in at least 7 or 8 individual issues of the graphic novel, at least!

PLEASE NOTE: VAMPIRE MOB has adult language (F-Carpet Bombs) meant for adults in both the live-action version and in the graphic novel version.
